St Teresa’s Hospice – Feethams’ Charity of the Year 2016
Our chosen charity of the year for 2016, St Teresa’s Hospice, has been providing free care and support to the residents of Darlington, South Durham and North Yorkshire for 30 years. Since small beginnings as a volunteer sitting service to help people at home, St Teresa’s Hospice has grown to become the highly-regarded and well-loved organisation that it is today, providing a range of services to support people with a life-limiting illness, and to support their direct carers, and other family members.
The Hospice provides the following services free of charge:
· Hospice at Home
· Rapid Response Service
· Day Hospice
· In-Patient Care
· Volunteer Visitor Service
· Complementary Therapies
· Family Support & Bereavement Counselling
· Carers Group
They will soon begin commissioning rooms in a new, purpose built 10-bedded In-Patient Unit, allowing them to care for more people with more complex needs in the future. The Hospice is an independent charity and it’s because of the people of Darlington & District that they are still able to continue to do their work. All support during their anniversary year will be important to them, and no effort will be considered too small, so their message to supporters is simple – please, go for it!
