Proposals for a state-of-the-art leisure scheme in Darlington Town Centre are set to go on public display next week as part of the pre-application consultation phase.

The public exhibition will showcase details of the proposed Feethams Leisure scheme and provide the opportunity for local residents to provide feedback on the plans. Located on the 0.75 hectare former bus depot site, Feethams Leisure will be anchored by a nine screen multiplex cinema operated by VUE, with Terrace Hill also in advance discussions with Whitbread to operate an 80 bedroom Premier Inn hotel and Brewers Fayre family public house.

Alongside national organisations, Terrace Hill is also welcoming proposals from independent businesses that wish to be located on the prime space. Featuring both national and independent retailers will allow the group to achieve its aim of offering visitors to Feethams a unique leisure experience that competes with leisure offers from neighbouring towns but that is still true to Darlington’s roots.

The public exhibition day will see members of the project team on hand to discuss any questions locals may have, and provide more details about the scheme. The exhibition will be held at theDolphin Centre, Saturday 2nd February 2013, 9:00am – 3:00pm.

Commenting on the public exhibition, Duncan McEwan, Head of Leisure and Retail, Terrace Hill, said: “The exhibition will provide a great opportunity for those wishing to find out more about Feethams Leisure to speak directly to the project team and have their say, with all feedback being considered before the proposals are finalised and submitted to Darlington Borough Council.

“Should the scheme be approved by the Council, Feethams Leisure will provide a first-class leisure experience for locals and help to attract visitors to the town centre, whilst also creating 500 jobs, and further jobs during the construction phase.”

Feedback forms are available at the exhibition and www.feethamsleisure.co.uk with all feedback being accepted until 18th February 2013. Subject to planning approval, work is anticipated to begin on Feethams Leisure in early 2014 before opening to the public in December 2014.
